Hip-hop culture has always prized the cutting-edge. From gold chains and breaks to haute couture and clouds, being the flyest and flashiest on your block turned into being the most unique and forward-thinking over the art’s almost 40-year history. This translated to an era where the culture’s biggest names get their breaks from digital mixtapes and web coverage and your average DJ has traded cumbersome vinyl crates and turntable set-ups for Serrato and CDs. Chances are, you even get your rap news from the internet (ahem), rather than print mags.
With that in mind, here’s some more news: Sony Entertainment Network (SEN), one of the top purveyors of digital content, is giving away a choice prize package to RapMusic readers that includes a PlayStation Vita with WiFi, 32GB memory card, and $100 SEN voucher to let you experience their VIP for All treatment.
What would a $100 SEN voucher get you? The simple convenience of streaming music, games, TV shows, and movies all through a single account. Not limited to just Sony devices, SEN offers gaming exclusives through Playstation Plus; over 100,000 SD, HD, and 3D movies and TV shows though Video Unlimited; and, best yet, a catalog of over 18 million songs on Sony’s cloud-based Music Unlimited service.
How much music is 18 million songs? Enough for any fans personal taste. Breakup jams, gym music, something smooth, something rowdy: you’ll find it all there across a diverse spread of artists and genres.
How about your desert island mix? Music Unlimited has everything from Kendrick to K-Solo, but what if you could listen to only one artist for 14 days straight – who would it be? Leave your answer in the comment section of this post, on RapMusic’s Facebook, or reply on Twitter with your answer and ”#SENVIP,” and you could win the premium prize package.
The entry period is open for two weeks and will close on December 3rd. The winner will be selected at random and contacted via email, Facebook, or Twitter.

One artist for 14 days? Probably Nicki or Em….they’re bipolar so it’d be like listening to 7 different people
I’d listen to Big KRIT for 14 days. WIth all of his mixtapes and his album I’d have plenty to go off of
Crooked I
CUrren$y
I’d listen to drake 14 days straight to be honest.
Beastie Boys
eminem
Kendrick Lamar
Big Krit
Tupac
Notorious BIG
Tupac Shakur
50 cent
If I could only listen to one artist for 14 days, it’d have to be Aesop Rock.
Hall and Oates
Drizzy.
The Weeknd
Id go with Ceschi Ramos. Dudes catalog is really vast, as is the styles of music he records.
Lupe Fiasco or Immortal Technique
Flying Lotus. Every single song is a vacation for your mind, to a different place.
Death grips
Lil Wayne for sure
Eminem, variety
Tupac… Wouldn’t have to repeat songs that many times
Sean Price.
Killah Priest
Bob marley. Simply because of the beauty, diversity and positivity of the message his music conveys. 14 days of anything else would be too much.
Kendrick Lamar.
kanye west.
Sage Francis!!!!
Herbie Hancock
If i had to listen to one artist for two weeks straight it would be canibus because even though he choked in the battle against dizaster he still has dozens of thousands of bars. Just the fact that he has that many bars isnt what just makes him good though the bars have to be good too. He has the type of bars where if i kept listening to them for 2 weeks i would see deeper and deeper meanings.
Without a doubt it’d have to be Ab-Soul. Independent thinkers are becoming increasingly rare in the music industry (hip-hop is no exception), and Ab is that shining light amongst a dark background. “Long Term Mentality” and “Control System” go toe-to-toe with any rap projects that have been released over the last 2 years without question. Dude is massively underrated, and if I’m on an island, I’m gonna need his unique combination of uplifting, thought-provoking, raw, and melodic tracks. His partner in crime Kendrick Lamar is a close second for many of the same reasons.
No question it would have to be Tupac- no other artist in the history of hip hop has been able to successfully hit on such a variety and multitude of topics. Timeless classics, thoughtful pieces, go hard music, radio hits… if you have to listen to one artist for 14 days straight you need to have someone that has multiple styles.
DMX, hands down. He’s great for the gym
Jay Z
Kanye West!! all day
I’d listen to Raffi
Eminem for sure, he has such a big catalog of music for every emotion you could possibly feel
Nas
Hova. He’s the greatest to ever do it, his catalog is DEEP, and he’s got songs that range that gamut of “hip-hop” emotion: Hard shit, fly shit, laid back shit, lyrical shit, etc…
Shit, actually I’m gonna change it to Yeezy. Same thing as Hova, except he’s got a lot of my favorite beats in his catalog.
Frank Sinatra
Jay-Z
One artist for 14 days? A$AP Rocky currently.
Jay-Z
Joe Budden!
Drake
probably Kanye or Kendrick lamar
