Hot on the heels of the single “The Fang,” hip-hop emcee Jakob22 releases the music video for his next single entitled “The Fang 2.” The video continues the hard-driving style of the first song, with Jakob22 lyrically taking the listener to the depths of his imagination. Both songs are available on his mixtape, The Dreamstate Part2: R.E.M Effect.
If you are just hearing about Jakob22 then you should know that he hails from Toronto, Canada. One of his trademark moves is to wear masks in his videos, and that tradition continues here in “The Fang 2.” Jakob22 has previously explained the use of masks in his “Night Terrors” song, saying that he “is all nightmares and dreams. I stay hooded and masked up because my image don’t mean a thing.”
I, personally, enjoy the lyrical flow of this track. You can definitely tell that Jakob22 is honing his craft and really wrapping the words around the beat. One of the marks of a good hip-hop song, at least in my opinion, is being able to make both the beat and the spitting of the words co-exist, and not make it sound like two elements that just happen to be in the same track together.
Jakob22 made the beat and words work here, and I can definitely tell that he has command of his craft.
