The five member ensemble known as B-illa have released a new mixtape that is available as a free download. The mixtape is entitled The Illa Tapes Volume 1 and features 12 tracks that are ready to pump in your sound system or car stereo. The group also has a music video for the song “Angel” available for viewing as well.
The B-illa collective is comprised of two brothers, Mistah Biggz and Dillahman, and fellow rappers Don Washie & Jacky B. The group is anchored by producer/DJ Denzel P.
Mistah Biggz and Dillahman credit their enjoyment of hip-hop music to exposure to the stage and performing arts. They started out in local bands, playing various instruments, and soon discovered that hip-hop is where they wanted to be. It also helps that their late father was a DJ, himself, and a music enthusiast who brought much music into his sons lives. Biggz and Dillahman consider their father an inspiration for all of their creative works.
B-illa considers their style to be sometimes humorous and sometimes witty. They also consider their lyrics to be lashings of deeper, more thought provoking styled bars. Their style has led to them collaborating with overseas acts, sharing stages with well respected artists such as Supar Novar and Lewi London, as well as making appearances on a string of well respected mixtapes and releasing their own underground mixtapes that have been well received locally and on the internet from their steadily growing fan base.
The Illa mixtape is considered a warm-up for a forthcoming album, Brothers in Bars, that will be recorded on the UK Runnings, a premiere mixtape series that promotes the best of hip-hop from the UK.
