So it’s probably surprising to no one at this point that Jay-Z and Beyonce have welcomed a new baby girl — named Blue Ivy Carter — to the world. The superstar couple made the announcement of the expectation during Beyonce’s performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (with a now famous pat on the stomach). In the past few days, Blue Ivy made her way into the world and is most likely going to spend her life surrounded by music and two successful and loving parents.
What has been surprising, at least to this reporter, was news that Jay-Z created a song that sampled Blue Ivy’s cries. The song “Glory,” made available on Jay-Z’s website, show a very poignant Jay-Z lyrically gushing about his new fatherhood.
Folks should also remember that this isn’t the first time that a baby was used in music. Prince famously used his unborn child’s heartbeat for the song “Sex in the Summer” from the Emancipation album. The heartbeat was used as the tempo (metronome, if you will) for the song.
One shouldn’t be too surprised that Jay and Beyonce would celebrate their new arrival in musical fashion. You can only imagine that there will be many more years of parental and musical bliss for the Carter household. RapMusic.com extends a hearty congrats to Jay-Z and Beyonce, and we also say “Welcome to the world, Blue Ivy.”
