Rap Is A Joke is dead serious about “Double Penetration”

“CB4″ and “Fear of a Black Hat” came out at a time when cash was getting introduced heavy into hip-hop, and in turn came a production line of clowns, sell-outs, and bare-chested R&B thugs willing to do embarrass themselves nearly to the point of coonery just to soup up their Subaru. Since rap is competitive, it’s only natural to clown on these kind of dudes, right? But outside of The Madd Rapper, Prince Paul and Busdriver, there aren’t many notable hip-hop acts taking brutal satirical shots at the mainstream lately.

Enter Bay Area duo Rap Is A Joke. With so many unintentionally hilarious rappers floating around the charts, used CD bins and the internet, EastBaySick’s Frank Stacks and L-$ continue the tradition of taking stabs at the most ridiculous aspects of rap today. Self-described as “actual rappers doing comedy” as opposed to “comedians doing rap,” they showed their serious side on 2011′s All Jokes Aside, but are returning to the style that got them noticed on 2009′s Rap Is A Joke: Duh Mixtape. Their latest release, EXPLICIT! The Double Penetration, is RIAJ on ‘roids, ramping up the ridiculousness of their first album with guest features from Bay Area vets like Mistah Fab, Grindtime fam Dirtbag Dan, Madness, Michael White, and Kap Kallous, and Hollywood’s Andy Milonakis and Dirt Nasty.

But Rap Is A Joke doesn’t spend the whole time satirically dissing rap caricatures; Stacks and L-$ go ham, rapping about rape and the existential crisis of a dead hooker in your car with no regards for PC and only having reverence for sheer ridiculousness.
