I grew up a few blocks away from Joell and had pretty much the same circle of friends, we run with the same crew now (DJ Camilo and the Heavy Hitters), and used to hit the same open mics together – so this was a real treat for me. He’s one of my favorite current emcees. On Part 1, Joell speaks on numerous topics, including his breakup with Dre, his new album, his take on the current state of hip-hop, and what he did to make it where he is today.
