Khia “Like Me”

khia_small-08.jpg

Atlanta, Georgia.  Taking her stand as the Rap Queen of the South a/k/a The Only Successful Indie Female Rapper a/k/a The Real Baddest Chick a/k/a KHIA (pronounced K-eye-yah)—most known for her 2002 hit single, “My Neck, My Back (Lick It)” is back at it again with her highly anticipated album, NASTI MUZIK.

In January, KHIA signed to the independently made and independently paid Big Cat Records, who will be distributing KHIA’s Album through Tommy Boy Distribution. Big Cat Records is most known for their signing and development of Rap Artist, Gucci Mane (recently released to Atlantic Records). “We are extremely excited about KHIA’s forthcoming album”, states Mel Breeden, President of Big Cat Records. “KHIA is an established Artist who has proven that she has what it takes to show her fans that she’s here to stay”.

Working non-stop since the release of “My Neck, My Back (Lick It)”, KHIA’s fans have been getting small doses of what she has been up to this year. In April, KHIA made her 2008 debut on the VH-1 Reality Show, “Miss Rap Supreme” where she refused to be disrespected by the other contestants and hosts MC Serch and Yo-Yo.

This Spring, KHIA released her first mix tape of 2008 entitled, THE BOSS LADY hosted by the South’s infamous DJ Scream. Equipped with 15 gutta tracks and real hard lyrics, her mix tape includes a few new songs; a few songs off of her forthcoming album such as “What They Do” featuring Gucci Mane; and old classics such as “Snatch the Cat Back” from her previous album and mix tapes. “Khia’s been a hitmaker. This tape shows that she definitely still has it. The females will ride this one out from beginning to end. I can’t wait to hear the album”, says DJ Scream.

On July 22, 2008, KHIA will release her third album, NASTI MUZIK. At the top of 2008, NASTI MUZIK promises to deliver fourteen (14) original tracks that her fans are anticipating. “On my album, I address all of my previous issues and beefs. This album will definitely project my growth as a Music Producer and Artist”, states KHIA.

This album is different from my other two albums because I’ve finally come into my own and I had a ball recording this album. I love my career and my album reflects that”, smiles KHIA. “I am blessed”. The skits heard on KHIA’s album are a reflection of her humorous side. As the skits show the comedic side of KHIA, she also takes stabs at females who have been delivering harsh lyrics directed towards her as well.

“I named my album NASTI MUZIK because I talk dirty while keeping it real at the same time. A lot of people have the same thoughts about life’s situations, but they don’t have the guts to speak the truth”, states KHIA. The play list for her upcoming album are listed below:

Canton Jones - Kingdom Business

Canton Jones 2

AUDIO LINK: http://streaming.thinktankmktg.com/audio/canton_jones-my_day.wma

The lights dim over the standing room only crowd. The room is thick with an air of anticipation. A voice sprinkled with strong vibrato and a touch of old school R&B rings out. The crowd goes wild! The voice rings out again, this time with twice the intensity. The crowd screams as the young, but clearly seasoned artist known as Canton Jones points the microphone toward the audience and another unforgettable musical experience begins…

Part singer, songwriter, producer, and vocal arranger, Canton Jones, a Deerfield Beach, Florida native has entertained over 500,000 people this year alone, sold nearly 75,000 units independently; and has several songs including the steppers groove “Love Song”, the cleverly penned “Stay Saved” and the uncompromising street anthem “The Password” in regular rotation internationally. On any given day he can be found sharing the stage with Hip Hop heavyweights like T.I., David Banner, and Ludacris just to name a few. His unlimited repertoire, massive crowd appeal, and fast-growing fan base has set him on a course destined to shake the very chore of the R&B and Hip Hop world.

As quickly as fans have embraced Canton’s lyrical edginess and warmed up to his heart felt ballads, Canton gets down to business with his most creative album to date, Kingdom Business. Already impacting radio with the smash hit “My Day”, Kingdom Business is an eclectic mix of undeniable street anthems and melodic story lines that will take listeners from the streets in their jeeps to the board room and the office equipped to handle the business of life. The new album, released by Arrow Records, will hit stores everywhere on February 5, 2008 and boasts Jones’ best work to date. With “My Day” currently climbing the charts, Canton recently dropped the gritty, urban riders anthem “Living Clean (Riding Mean)” which is currently spinning in heavy rotation on popular mix tape shows and is creating a major buzz on the Myspace and You Tube circuits.

With three albums (20 Years, 3 Months, 12 Days; Love Jones; and The Password: Access Granted) two Grammy nods, a Stellar Award nomination, and three Gospel Choice Awards to his credit, Canton still maintains the unshakable confidence of someone who knows the tide is turning his way. More than an artist, Canton represents a philosophy, a movement, and a generation that is relentless in their pursuit to bring a fresh, new sound to Hip Hop and the streets. He understands that it is not just about the music, but it’s about developing a lifestyle that offers peace and prosperity for anyone bold enough to pursue their purpose. Jones has embarked on an ambitious business plan to bring the next phase of Hip Hop and R&B to the forefront. He’s all about his business and he’s become the example, so you can handle yours!

Lil Haze prepares “Doin Da’ Most” with hit single “Girls In Da Club”…

Lil’ Haze prepares “Doin Da Most” this fall

Powered by “Girls in Da Club” & “Whut It Iz” Feat. Ying Yang Twins

 Haze Cover

With the release of his debut CD, Doin’ Da Most (Birmingham Records), the 22-year-old Birmingham native is determined to put the “Magic City” on hip-hop’s map and he’s vowed to do it without verbal misogyny or profanity. “I don’t really use profanity in my lyrics,” says Haze. “I’m trying to bring a whole new flavor.” The father of a young daughter, Haze stresses that his commitment to making vulgarity-free music has nothing to do with recent movements to clean up hip-hop. “Now that it’s all coming to the light I’m comfortable with it but it’s always been in me to be that way,” he says. Khia - “Hater Walk”

Khia walks it out.

Khia

The Song:

Khia delivers again with “Hater Walk,” an outtake from her latest album Nasti Muzik. Coming in with a strong southern beat, the song pays homage to Unk’s “Walk It Out.” Khia knows all the other girls in the club are “starin’ and hatin’,” but that’s what she wants, what she lives for. With her upfront and direct sexuality, Khia presents herself as the powerful women she is, in the club with her man on her arm, not the other way around.

The Background:

Born in Philadelphia and raised in Tampa, Florida, Khia now resides in Atlanta. Khia has been writing and singing rap, R&B and gospel her whole life. Her first brush with the hip-hop club scene began when she bartended at the trend setting club XS in Tampa. The bar was home to Wild 98.7 and served as the venue for the hottest local DJ and club shows. When Khia’s mother passed away in 2000 from kidney failure, Khia used her grief as a catalyst to kick her music career into action. In 2002 Khia wrote, produced, and released her debut album Thug Misses. Distributed by Artemis Records, but with no major label contract deal, Khia found success on her own terms despite not having “Top 40″ radio play or PR team to gain exposure for her album. The now infamous single, “My Neck, My Back,” has sold 100,000 units to date and has been featured on numerous television shows and feature films. In 2005, she released her sophomore album Gangstress, which featured the single “Snatch the Cat Back.” Khia has also been featured on the Janet Jackson’s “So Excited” and Trick Daddy’s “Jodd.” Most recently Khia was featured on VH1’s Miss Rap Supreme and had an ongoing column with Allhiphop.com. Nasti Muzik was produced by Khia, Marlon “Big Cat” Rowe and Melvin “Birdman” Breeden. The album is in stores now.

Ise Lyfe - “Yes, No, Maybe”

“Grew up on the other side of the tracks / But when you grow up by the tracks you never see it like that”

Ise Lyfe

The Song:“Yes, No, Maybe,” the next single from Ise Lyfe’s upcoming album Prince Cometh, finds him examining where he came from. In this emotional track Ise paints a dark picture of his childhood. He hits on the indifference with which the underprivileged live, especially apparent with the lines “Grew up on the other side of the tracks / But when you grow up by the tracks you never see it like that / Things just be how they be / Never felt poor cause folks were poor like me.” Ise continues over the haunting beat to tell of black people in positions of power that are seemingly ashamed or unaware of the plights of Africans throughout the world. “Every area in the world where black people live, we are dying unnatural deaths,” Ise delivers coolly before pleading to these people to use their influence to create social awareness. The song is delivered with his usual poetic grace as he examines the lack of consciousness he once felt, which has since changed as “…now I see we deserve much more.”

Check the Album Preview Video.

The Background:

Ise Lyfe, born in Oakland, California, was influenced strongly by Langston Hughes and started writing poetry as a teenager. As he continued through his teenage years however, Ise became caught up in many of the negative elements in his community. It was after witnessing a murder at a concert that Ise realized what had happened, and the social awareness that he had almost lost. First recognized nationally for competing in the annual Youth Speaks Poetry Slams Finals, Ise started out in coffee shops and at open mics. He was soon performing in clubs, auditoriums, and eventually universities at home and abroad. His arc of success reached a new level when Ise was featured on Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam. He has since co-founded the P.O.W.E.R. Movement, an Oakland-based organization dealing with the educational, social, and political needs of young people. For his second album Ise joined forces with Bay Area producer Nick James in their effort to create a popular culture of consciousness with Prince Cometh.

BET Premieres KeAnthony “A Hustlaz Story” Tonight at 8PM/EST

KeAnthony

http://www.keanthony.com

ABOUT KEANTHONY

“I sing about real situations in life. Reality. That’s what I’m talking about,” KeAnthony states. There are no smoke and mirrors with this multitalented singer/songwriter. His debut album, A Hustla’z Story, pulses with the truth of his existence; a musical foundation built on honesty.

Raised in Nashville, Tennessee, KeAnthony was exposed to a rich variety of music. At age five, he joined his family’s nine-member gospel ensemble, The Gospel True Notes, solidifying a dream for a future in music.

In fifth grade, KeAnthony made a friend that would influence his life in a way he never imagined. The two were inseparable. Childhood innocence would soon melt away, and as teens, they found themselves engaging in a life on the streets. When faced with the possibility of an aggravated robbery charge, his best friend turned KeAnthony in to the police, leading him to live the next eight years of his life behind bars.

Now with a lifetime of experiences behind him, KeAnthony is ready to share his story, A Hustla’z Story. This album is a self-written lyrical lullaby tenderly narrated with the strength of KeAnthony’s character. “It’s all reality to me,” he states. “I can’t sit down and write ‘I love you’ and not mean it. I write songs that deal with love and life.” He addresses one’s need to escape the day to day in “Everytime I’m High,” a soulful plea for solitude, peace, and freedom. With passionate sincerity, he reminds listeners, particularly single mothers, to put the past in the past, “don’t let things get in the way of your happy days,” with “It’s Okay.”

The power of attraction, support and love is explored in the slow jam, “My Song.” Here he tells listeners of a powerful union, the kind he simply cannot live without. On the flip side, KeAnthony stays true to life and illustrates the flames of jealousy in “Medlin,” a song about someone content on destroying his reputation with the woman he loved, which unfortunately led to the break up of the relationship.

The highlight of the album is the lyrical portrayal of the story that led KeAnthony to his stint in prison. The track “Forever My Homie” cries out to his long lost friend, enlightening listeners on the creation and demise of their friendship. “A ni**a done snitched on me/ and I thought he’s supposed to be/ forever my homie,” KeAnthony croons. He goes on, “never saw it coming/ now I’m sitting in this jail cell wondering why/ I’m the only one doing time.” Definitely one to take the high road, KeAnthony served his time and never sabotaged or sought revenge on his friend.

With beats and production provided by The Underdogs, Tank, and Scott Storch, a narrative true to life and a mastery of soul stylistics, A Hustla’z Story is sure to catch the attention of listeners worldwide. “I don’t give a damn where you from,” KeAnthony states proudly. “You will feel this album.”

WEST COAST RAP ICON C-BO TEAMS UP WITH OMAR “BIG-O” GOODING
FOR TRADIN’ WAR STORIES - AUGUST 19TH

Tradin’ War Stories is the second August release from West Coast rap mainstays West Coast Mafia Records, via their new distribution deal with indie powerhouse KOCH. Over the years West Coast Mafia Records has developed a stronghold in the hardcore rap market, and a full release schedule under this new partnership will enable the label to add to their west coast rap legacy. Flagship artist and label founder C-Bo stands out as having one of the most consistent careers in rap music, as both an artist and a businessman. He has been releasing records on his own label for more than a decade and has sold more than two million units independently, routinely moving 100 000 units on a single release. He has also personally contributed to albums by best-selling artists including 2Pac, Master P, E40, Too $hort, Luniz, Scarface, Yukmouth, Jazzy Phae, Lil Flip, Baby Bash, Dr Dre, Spice 1 and more.

C-Bo is raising the bar once again, this time collaborating with Omar “Big-O” Gooding. If that last name sounds familiar it’s because he is indeed the brother of Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr. Omar “Big-O” Gooding is a television and movie star in his own right – you can see him in numerous TV series including Barbershop (based on the movie) along with movies such as The Gospel and Baby Boy.

With the help of C-Bo, “The Mob Father”, the duo has created one of the hottest albums of the summer. Tradin’ War Stories officially marks Big-O’s entry into the rap game, and his skills are sure to surprise a lot of people. Tradin’ War Stories is music to ride to – “Weeest!” is poised to be a West Coast ‘hood anthem, featuring Playa Ham from up and coming South Central collective Young Giantz. Guests on the 17 track album, include Chino XL, Stylie Ray, Denver underground legends Young Doe and Hawk Man plus production from noted multi-platinum producer Focus. On this collaborative effort, Tradin’ War Stories sees C-Bo delivering his signature street knowledge while Big-O demonstrates his venomous spit. A Big-O solo album is slated for release later this year.
